At the beginning of 2008 I purchased my first field recording device, a "Zoom H4 Handy Recorder" - a portable solid-state stereo sound recorder (uses SD memory cards).

For years I had wanted such a thing, but when I got it, I found very little to record. It was not until last month that I really began using it.

As a sound artist (or whatever you want to call it) one of the restrictions I set myself is to not use any easily available sound (ie sampling songs, tv or radio, or downloading samples). Or to put it another way, I must harvest the sounds that I use myself.

With this in mind, one of the ideas I wanted to try out was ways of creating sound effects using real things made of real stuff - here, for instance, pipes.
