Chillis 2013 (March - July)

2013 is the third year (or fourth?) I have grown chillis here in the South East of England. Our garden unfortunately has nowhere which gets full sunlight for the whole day so am at a bit of a disadvantage there. No central heating in the house either so seed germination in February, in the porch, is slow, and continued seedling growth is generally disappointing throughout March to April despite heated propagators.

Though a bit less wet than last year, Summer still seemed to hold back for longer than I hoped, waiting until July before bringing us a few weeks of hot weather.

I don't really know if the organic nettle fertilizer/pesticide I made earlier in the year has any effect on the aphids or not. I still have to continually brush them off the plants with a paint brush. I keep spraying the plants with the nettle fertilizer every week or two as it's apparently good for folliage too, and I figure that without decent amounts of full sunlight they need as much healthy folliage as they can get. Unfortunately some plants have been eaten by slugs, snails, and caterpillars.

At last the Summer arrived and the plants growth really started to take off. Some of course are still a bit slow to develop.
